1.      What did the others try yesterday?

a.      Kan asked to make the journal formal, but it was way too difficult and long for him, so he asked again to make it simple and short.

b.      Saran asked to make the journal more natural and close to New Zealanders’ sentences.

c.       Ema asked to find the errors in the journal, so ChatGPT answered just errors, but that wasn’t what she wanted. She asked it again to show texts, so it answered a fixed version of the journal.

d.      Lucas asked to make the journal like a newspaper, so it showed super-long 8 paragraphs and sentences, so he asked again to make it shorter. ChatGPT made it shorter and paragraphs became eight to three.

e.      I asked chatGPT to give me the improved version of the journal, so it gave me the journal with difficult English, but I actually asked one more thing which is tell me what did you change, but it forget to tell me, so I asked again to know what it changed my journal.

2.      What did they learn by trying that?

a.      Kan learned more complicated vocabulary.

b.      Saran learned the form of young ages’ writing.

c.       Ema learned from her mistakes and is sure to improve them.

d.      Lucas learned more formal and polite English.

e.      I learned more vocabulary and grammar from that. More persuasive sentences are really good.

3.      I think Lucas gave me a good idea. To master English, I need more skills including vocabulary and grammar. His idea has a high possibility to learn more. Many people watch a newspaper, so its English will be politer naturally. In addition, I thought it might be a good idea to read an actual English newspaper.

2023-April 17th

 April 17 th was my first-day taking classes at Otago Polytechnic. We did a self-introduction presentation on that day. Honestly, that was easy for us. We had a lot of pictures, some events in my life that are able to talk in front of people, and skills for presentation. I’m pretty sure we are all unique, in both good meaning and bad meaning, so when we deliver presentations, that was so much fun. Next day, we will make a report about Otago Polytechnic’s academic policy. I think it is so many things to write about, but I look forward to it tomorrow.

2023-April 19th

On April 19th, we delivered the presentation again. Honestly, it was so bothering to do. This presentation's theme was the differences between Japan and New Zealand. So, we researched it in the morning and made slides. In the afternoon, we delivered it. I think I mentioned it in a previous diary, but we've got some skills for the presentation, so we didn't take so long to finish the class. The next day, we're going to get to the museum. Sounds fun to me, I'm looking forward to visiting there!

2023-April 8th

 On April 8th, I visited the camp in which my host family participated. This camp started on Friday night and finished next Monday. I didn't join there because I had a bit sick. However, I thought I should visit there at least, so I went there. There were lots of Tongans and I couldn't understand their language. They all are Methodist, so they were praying when I arrived. It took so long same as yesterday, so I slept one time while praying. After eating lunch, we played volleyball with them. That moment was the only time that I had fun with them and understood how nice they are. I'm convinced sports are one of the best ways to know each other.
